In honor of Hispanic Heritage Month, THE BORINQUENEERS will be presented at the 6th Annual Buffalo International Film Festival. The activity is sponsored by the Western New York Hispanic American Veterans Memorial Committee in cooperation with the Hispanic Heritage Council of Western New York and the Buffalo International Film Festival. There will be a pre-and post-event celebration with live music as well as an archival photo exhibit and a question-and-answer session with the filmmaker Noemi Figueroa Soulet and any 65th Infantry Regiment veterans in attendance. The presenting sponsor is the Hispanic American Veterans Memorial Monument Committee. Proceeds from the activity will go towards the construction of the WNY Hispanic American Veterans Memorial Monument – a memorial that will honor the service of WNY Hispanic men and women in the U.S. Armed Forces – which is expected to be completed by Memorial Day 2013. The monument will have a specific inscription to memorialize the service of the soldiers of the 65th Infantry Regiment. The monument will be located at the Buffalo & Erie County Naval & Military Park between the Korean and Rust Bucket Monuments.
