Luis Rodriguez Rodriguez, 94, of Farmington, Connecticut, died January 16, 2017 after a brief illness. Born October 28, 1922 in Cayey, Puerto Rico, he attended the University of Puerto Rico in San German and subsequently served in World War II and the Korean War. In 1951, while with the 65th’s Company “D” he earned a Bronze Star for Valor and a Purple Heart. In 1961, he moved to Hartford, Connecticut and was as a Baptist preacher for the Puerto Ricans who migrated to work in the tobacco fields around Windsor. He later worked for the YMCA, the Colt Firearms factory, and Colonial Bank before he retired in 1987. He enjoyed reading the paper, doing the puzzle in the Hartford Times, telling stories, making hackneyed jokes, and sitting in his rocking chair. Published by the Farmington Patch.
