CSM Héctor M. Pérez (Ret.), 88, of Deltona, Florida, died on January 3, 2017. He was born in Utuado, PR on December 1, 1928. In 1948, at age 19, he enlisted in the Army and in 1950 was shipped to Korea. Héctor was assigned to Headquarters & Headquarters Company’s Anti-Tank Platoon where he was wounded by a mortar explosion. Hector also served in the Vietnam War and was later stationed in Germany, Belgium, Japan and Panama. In 1975 after 27 years of service, he retired as a Command Sergeant Major, the highest attainable enlisted rank having earned a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart, amongst other awards. Later he worked as a civil service federal employee, retiring in 1992 for a combined service to our nation of 41 years. Héctor was a deeply religious man and devoted much of his life to the Catholic Church. He was a 4th Degree member of the Knights of Columbus. Published in DignityMemorial.com
