COL Winfred G. Skelton, Jr. (Ret.), 90, died on October 21, 2017 in Columbus, Georgia. His father, Brig. Gen. Winfred Skelton (Ret.) served with the 65th in Puerto Rico in 1925 where he met and married Mary Alexander of Columbus, Georgia, who was there visiting her sister. A West Point graduate, Skelton, Jr. served as Company “K” Commander from 1952-53 in Korea where he received a Bronze Star and the Purple Heart. His company participated heavily in the Kelly Hill battle of 1952. In Vietnam, he earned a Silver Star medal and retired from the Army after 27 years of service. He later worked as a Vice President for Perpetual Savings Bank. Published in DignityMemorial.com.
