The Korean War Legacy Foundation hosted a trip to Puerto Rico to videotape oral histories of 70 Korean War veterans from February 10-17, 2016. The Foundation maintains a digital museum of Korean War veterans (www.kwvdm.org). El Pozo Productions organized the trip to 6 towns in 8 days. Gisela Rodriguez, Esq. also served as a volunteer. Some photos were provided by Vernon Shirley and are marked as such.
February 10, 2016 - The first set of interviews was conducted at the Veteran's Hospital in San Juan, Puerto Rico.

The first interview was Madiam Lamboglia Alvarez who served in Co. M, 65th Inf. Regt.
The second veteran interviewed was Borinqueneer Edwin Duran Gonzalez (in cap) with his family and volunteers Gisela Rodriguez (left) and Noemi Figueroa Soulet (2nd from right). Edwin served in Co. I.

Abisai Gonzalez-Camacho brought his Bronze Star to be photographed. All the veterans brought photographs and memorabilia to be scanned for archival purposes.

After the interview shoot, our group had a VIP Tour of the Puerto Rico National Cemetery in Bayamon, PR.
Puerto Rico National Cemetery staff provided a guided tour for our group.
The grave marker honors those whose remains were not recovered or identified.
The grave of SGM Juan E. Negron-Martinez (Ret.) of Co. L who was posthumously upgraded to a Medal of Honor making him the only soldier of the 65th to have received this medal.
LTC Teofilo Marxuach (Ret.) served with the Porto Rico Regiment of Infantry during World War I, the precursor to the 65th Inf. Regt.

February 13, 2016 - Our fourth day of interviews takes place in Ponce, PR at the offices of Borinqueneer William Feliciano, Esq. (a World War II veteran). Pictured is the famous firehouse of Ponce.
