My father-in law, Ernesto Sanchez served in the Army’s Operation Ski Jump 11 ABN/ Jan1954. I know this from a photo I have of him in uniform. How can I verify this? And get whatever medals he would have been entitled to?

It sounds like you need to submit FORM 180 (Request for Military Records).

Orgullo de Puerto Rico , el 65 de Infanteria, han sido condecorados por su heroismo y su galardon. Asi cantaba mi papa la cancion dedicada a ese batallon lleno de orgullo, valentia y amor por su patria. Muy orgullosa de ser Puertorriquena de pura cepa.

Soy un orgulloso vecino de Eddie Gonzalez eh buscado el registro de mi vecino que era como mi abuelo y no aparece registro de el en la 65th de infanteria y de acuerdo con las historias que me hacia papa creo q el archivo se pudo haber averiado en el incendio de el 1973 donde se perdio el 80% de los expedientes del ejercito, me gustaria saber si algun allegado a el tenga alguna foto de el o historias y si ay otros allegados a veteranos pasando por lo mismo.  

Hola..buscando me encontre con esta pajina..vi la foto de Pedro j Zayas(don Peyin) Como lo conocia..me trató como un hijo..me buscaba para mantener una finquita que tenia cerca de un lago en villaba..nunca supe de sus pasados military a pesar de que lo conocí en Fort Allen ( Juana diaz P.R) dep don Peyin.

I seek photos, drawings, plans, etc., featuring the old monument to the 65 de Infantería formerly located near 65 Infantería Shopping Center at Barbosa Avenue, San Juan, Puerto Rico, if memory serves. I mean the one that existed up until the late 1990s and early 2000s, before the current one with the white pedestal and bronze soldier statue. Please respond if you have any leads. Muy buenos días, soy un orgulloso nieto de Julio Luis Figueroa Mitchell, de la 65th inf. REGT. 3RD div. El cual falleció el 19 de junio del 1951 y mi familia llevamos años tratando de hacerle honor y se le dio a la familia el corazón púrpura pero no es reconocido ni su foto ni tampoco en los monumentos esta su nombre que puedo hacer para honrar su valentía llevamos desde mi padre hasta yo tratando de hacer lo propio pero no sabemos que más hacer tenemos todos los documentos de su servicio, pero son cosas que no entendemos. Necesito que alguien nos ayude a ver como lo podemos honrar a este gran soldado llamado mi abuelo Julio Luis Figueroa Mitchell el cual lamentablemente nunca conoci.

Soy veteran del 65 Inf HQ HQ Company. Estuve dos años y luego me re-aliste de nuevo por tres años y termine en Fort Louis. Tengo 96 sos y me encuentro GAD (Gracias a Dios) bien vivo. Solo con dios y mis dos hijas que me cuidan bien porque quede viudo así es esto. Tengo la medalla de los Borinqueeneers. Vivo en Guaynabo pero soy Isabeliño de pura cepa. Gracias.
