Jose A. Rodriguez-Velazquez, 89, of Orlando passed away January 29, 2015. Jose proudly served in the U.S. Army and fought for his Country in World War II, and in the Korean and Viet Nam wars. While in the service Jose was part of “The Borinquneers 65th Infantry Regiment”. Jose retired from the U.S. Army after 26 years of service. He also worked and retired from The Maimonides Medical Center for 15+ years. While serving in the U.S. Army he was honored with several medals: Bronze Medal, WWII Victory Medal, American Theater Campaign Medal, American Camp Medal, Korean Service Medal, Combat Infantry Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, NY State Conspicuous Service Cross (and many more). Jose was an inventor and loved to work with his hands. He designed and made jewelry and had many brilliant inventions in his lifetime. He was a man of many talents. Jose moved to Florida from Texas in 1992. He is survived by his six children: Norma Betancur, Jose Rodriguez, Jr., Lydia Tejada, Jeannette Maldonado, Milagros Munez, and Lourdes McLean; 12 Grandchildren, 26 Great-Grandchildren, and 1 Great Great Grandchild.
