SGT Emilio Pagán Gines, (Ret.), 88, of Vega Baja, Puerto Rico was born on November 1, 1922 in Ciales and died on December 1, 2010. Emilio enlisted in the Army in 1942 retiring after 21 years of service in 1963. He served in Korea with the 65th in the Service Company and in Headquarters & Headquarters Co. for 13 months from 1950-1951. Other assignments included Japan, Germany, Puerto Rico, Panama, California, Colorado, Texas and Illinois. Among his various awards are the Combat Infantryman’s Badge, Korean Service medal w/4 campaign stars, National Defense medal, WWII Victory medal and the Good Conduct medal (3d award). He predeceased his wife Josefa Ramos Fernandez and is survived by four daughters and various grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Emilio was interred at the National Cemetery in Bayamon, Puerto Rico. Reported by his nephew, LTC Arturo Pagán Macaltao (Ret., USA.)
