MSG Hernan Silva-Torres (Ret.)
MSG Hernan Silva-Torres (Ret.) – began his career on September, 1950 in the 296th Infantry Regiment of the Puerto Rico National Guard. He was mobilized and deployed to Korea as a replacement in the 65th serving in “H” Company from February to September, 1952. He became a Personnel Specialist serving in various assignments, including two tours during the Vietnam War. He served in the Army as a soldier and then as a civilian employee for a total of 53 years of service from 1950-2003! Silva passed away from a sudden heart attack on December 20, 2003 in Columbus, GA. He was 70 years old. Submitted by his friend, LTC Bart Soto.
