THE BORINQUENEERS won THE MILITARY CHANNEL AWARD at the GI Film Festival in Washington, DC in their Best of Film Awards which were awarded to 9 out of the 42 films screened. The GI FILM FESTIVAL is the first film festival in the nation to exclusively celebrate the successes and sacrifices of the service member through the medium of film. This year’s event was held from May 14-20, 2012 in Washington, DC and included 42 film premieres, red carpet events, parties, musical performances and celebrity appearances.
The Borinqueneers was screened on May 17th at 12:00 pm at the Naval Memorial, 701 Pennsylvania Avenue, NW, Washington, DC 20004. Three 65th Infantry veterans attended: Dr. Alberto Garcia, SFC Carlos Ruiz (Ret.) and Manuel Diaz Rivas and participated in a short question-and-answer session after the screening.
