My father CPL Luis Martinez served with the 65th in Korea. He is 80 years old and still alive. I grew up listening to his war stories, some just too gruesome to comprehend, others quite humorous. He was a mortarman. He left Puerto Rico via ship, went through Panama Canal and arrived in Sasebo Japan, later to arrive in South Korea. He’s original from Orocovis PR, Barrio Botijas. He served honorably and I am very proud of him. Thirty four years later, I, his son, served in the peninsula for 26 months and was stationed in Uijongbu.
