The celebrations continue! In Puerto Rico, the Borinqueneers will have the opportunity to see the Medal and be recognized for their service. The 65th Infantry Regiment Association will hold a recognition ceremony for them and their families on the grounds of the El Morro Fortress in Old San Juan on April 27, 2016 at 10am. At the ceremony, the Secretary of the Veterans Administration, Mr. Robert A. McDonald, along with the attendance of other dignitaries, will present the Congressional Gold Medal to the members of the 65th Infantry Regiment.
The event is open to the public but registered Borinqueneer veterans need to have official invitations to receive a replica medal. Registered Borinqueneer veterans needed to have provided proof of 65th Infantry Regiment service. The invitations are being sent by the Puerto Rico Veterans Public Advocate’s office. For more information, please call (787) 758-5760 x 251.
We have shared our list of those Borinqueneer veterans from our database who have sent us Census Forms with proof of 65th service and who currently reside in Puerto Rico with the Mr. Agustin Montañez, Puerto Rico’s Veterans Public Advocate.
