Private Luis Escribano-Lugo (ASN: US-50102903), United States Army, was held as a Prisoner of War after he was captured during the Korean War on 19 August 1951 and was held until his release on 18 August 1953 after the signing of the Armistice.

OBITUARY:
Luis E. Lugo entered into heaven on November 19, 2011 with his loving family at his side. Devoted husband of Alida Buller Lugo for 53 years. Loving father of Andre L. Lugo (Cindy), Carlos E. Lugo (Melissa), George M. Lugo (Evelynn) and John S. Lugo (Rae Ann). A very proud grandfather of 8 grandchildren and 1 great grandchild. Son of the late Aparicia Lugo and preceded in death by his sister and brothers; Angelina Lugo, Pablo Lugo, Modesto Lugo and Miguel Angel Escribano. He was also survived by numerous loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.  Age 84, a native of Las Piedras, Puerto Rico and a resident of Metairie. Luis served his country in the U. S. Army during the Korean War and was a POW for 2 years. During his time in service he was awarded the Purple Heart. He worked 30 years with the Internal Revenue Service as an agent and received the Albert Gallatin Award for his outstanding service upon retiring in 1985.
