NY BORINQUENEERS CGM CEREMONY (7/17/2016)

On July 17, 2016, the New York Borinqueneers Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony took place at Hunter College, New York City. Fifty-six living and deceased Borinqueneer veterans were honored with replica medals. The sponsors of the event included Acacia Network, the Center for Puerto Rican Studies, the New York Army National Guard and the Borinqueneers Congressional Gold Medal Ceremony National Committee. The organizing committee included Noemi Figueroa Soulet (El Pozo Productions), Roger Hernandez, Jr. (East Harlem Borinqueneers Honoring Committee), Dr. Harry Franqui Rivera (Center for Puerto Rican Studies), SGM Eric Hunt Benitez (NY Army National Guard) and Sam Rodriguez (Borinqueneers CGM Ceremony National Committee). The guest speaker included Dr. Jongwoo Han of the Korean War Legacy Foundation. Entertainment was provided by Trio Los Platinos.
